Become a Certified Perinatal Educator

Baby Steps is planning its first annual teacher training workshop, October 16-17, 2010.  Our program is unlike any other program for childbirth educators.  Instead of being an independent teacher, our teachers are independent contractors.  They are a valued part of our organization, and encouraged to be involved in helping Baby Steps grow.  Our teacher trainings are small, and space is limited.  It is important to us that our teachers share a similar philosophy, and a passion for their work.  Before applying, please explore our website and see if we're a good fit for you.

We are currently seeking five teachers, particularly for the east and southern parts of the metro Atlanta area.  If you are not in these areas you can still apply.  If we don't have space this time we'll keep your application for next time.

The cost of the teacher training is $300 for those who are not currently childbirth educators with another organization (discount may be available to teachers already certified in childbirth education). This is all-inclusive.  There are no certification or membership fees.  You will receive an Intuitive Birth guidebook, electronic resources including everything you need to teach, a copy of Active Birth, brochures and business cards to start promoting your classes, and a birth video to start out your collection of videos to show in class.  After the workshop, you will be ready to begin teaching all Baby Steps classes except for the Breastfeeding Your Baby class.  Because breastfeeding is such a complex subject, we require teachers to take a separate lactation educator workshop in order to teach that class (try www.birthuniversity.com or www.CAPPA.net).

Baby Steps does not charge its teachers an annual fee to remain certified.  Instead, it retains a percentage of the amount your students pay for classes.  Baby Steps provides Intuitive Birth class materials, so the amount you receive for teaching is net of Guidebooks for class.  You will receive support, assistance in finding teaching locations, professional marketing materials, and an opportunity to be a part of our growing company.
